For years I have been reluctant to count calories or fit in with some 'eat this' and 'don't eat that' regime which would drive me mad. I did start out using MFP so I could get an accurate count on fast days and I was using it for feast days as well, but then found that normal weekends, a meal here, too many glasses of wine there, Easter weekend - you name it and just the sheer drudgery of weighing and obsessing drove me (and eeryone else) mad. So I count on fast days only. And I'm still losing. Yes, I am more aware of what I eat and some days when I know I've gone a bit over the top I just look forward to the next fast day, which for the most part follows a set pattern - mini breakfast as late as possible, soup for lunch, big tuna salad or vege curry for supper and keep busy.
I have just read through most of the comments here and found it helpful. This is my second week and today is my 4th fast day. Last week I lost 1.4 kgs by the end of the week however I tended to weigh myself every other day and my weight certainly fluctuated (which disappointed me).
So this week I am not weighing myself until my weigh in day (Tuesday).
I decided to count calories every day with MFP and have found that I average about 1600 on non fast days. Once I get used to this lifestyle I may only count on fast days but I am at present quite enjoying counting and learning about how to make better choices.
